MMT and the “S Rule”

December 7, 2010

I’ve  been thinking weird thoughts lately and they have taken over my mind.   One of the first and foremost is that MMT should have its own policy guideline rules for deficit spending and total amount of bank lending.

The economists at the fed cannot be bothered with checking the unemployment data, and Treasury doesn’t seem to understand that when you pull the lever, the trebuchet launches.   So let’s give them a rule they into which they can plug the numbers and get some viable guidance about what they should do.

It does not need to be complexified, but I bet it would get more attention if it did.
